The location is fantastic, just a short walk to the Rigi Bahn. Unfortunately, the room lacked soundproofing, making it noisy at times.

their rooms are always new-fashioned and bright with a fully-equipped kitchen, a balcony, as for instance. the location is marvellous and gorgeous, near to the train station that goes up mt rigi, the ferry to lucerne, and the swiss alps - couldn't be better.

We were very pleased with the friendlyness of owner and staff, and with the quality of the breakfast and the meals.
Just a slight annoyance: Parking space (especially for over 3 hours time) is a bit scarce at the hotel and its close vicinity; we had to park a few 100m away on a parking owned by the cog railway company at a rate of 8 chf/24 hour.

The staff were super friendly, helped me park and even sorted me out with electric adaptors for my phone! The brekkie was a lekker spread, seriously, so much fresh stuff to choose from. Plus, the views of the lake from my room? Just wow!

Fine views of Lake Lucerne right from your room. The garden terrace is a highlight, perfect for a candlelit dinner overlooking the lake with exquisite seasonal cuisine that impresses.
Room soundproofing leaves much to be desired. You can hear a lot of noise from the road and footsteps from above. Parking can be a bit tricky, and I ran into issues with charges that didn't match my actual parking situation. Smoky odors linger in some areas, and some of the rooms are quite small, so don't expect sprawling luxury.

The manager was friendly, welcoming and spoke English which was reassuring after battling through Europe. The breakfast came included in the room rate and was one of the best we had in Europe. The bread was so fresh every morning, with a great choice of foods including fruit salad. Free internet with a computer was available to us. The view from our room of the moutains, harbour and little town at night with the lights in the distance was breath-taking. The hotel was so easy to find, just get off the steam boat and look up the hill and there it is - no trouble negotiating maps and roads.
I loved this hotel and would go back. The only problem is transport to and from Lucerne city. With the Eurail card we were able to get free transport on the steam boat which is an hour trip but such a beautiful view of the surrounding area and mountains every time that you hardly notice the time passing. Without the Eurail pass, travellors would have to pay for transport to and from Hotel Rigi from Lucerne.
